An EPC should be issued within 28 days of a property going on the sale or letting market, and is valid for 10 years. Reassessment will be needed after 10 years or if the property undergoes certain changes, such as an extension, roof, wall or floor insulation, or new double glazing boiler or heating system.
All existing homes can and should have an Energy Performance Certificate following a Reduced Data Standard Assessment Procedure (RdSAP EPC).
